The paper in this item is made by female workers from recycled cotton rags. Hand block printing is a highly work-intensive Indian heritage craft. Individual patterns skilfully carved into wooden blocks are used to apply natural dyes or paint precisely to the surface. Layers of detail, colour and texture develop into a distinctive item achieved. Slight variations are exclusive characteristics.
